We've been privileged this year to deliver Try Boccia events for physiotherapist and recreation therapist at NS Health, at the Disabled not Dead Society's Accessibility Fair, for residents and staff at Melville Lodge, for the EDI staff at Mount Saint Vincent University, for elementary and junior high students attending the Sport NS Milk Fair, for delegates at the Teachers Association for Physical and Health Education conference and for the Muscular Dystrophy Society and for the Timberlea Cubs.

Atlantic Boccia Challenge Registration is now open!
The very first Atlantic Boccia Challenge is coming to Halifax on May 16, 2026, and registration is officially live! Boccia Nova Scotia, together with Para Sport New Brunswick, Para Sport & Recreation PEI, and Boccia Newfoundland & Labrador, is thrilled to launch this brand‑new regional event that will bring the Atlantic provinces together for a full day of competition, community, and celebration.
This inaugural Challenge marks a major step forward for Boccia in Atlantic Canada. Hosted at West Bedford High School, it will showcase the spirit of Boccia while giving new and emerging athletes the chance to experience tournament play in a supportive, exciting environment.
Who Is This Event For
The Atlantic Boccia Challenge is designed for anyone eager to step into competitive Boccia. Whether you’re brand new to tournaments or looking to build confidence in a real competition setting, this event offers a welcoming entry point with proper conditions, structure, and guidance.

Provincial Level Boccia Referee Course
Coming to Halifax This Spring
Boccia Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that a Provincial Level Boccia Referee Course will be offered in the Halifax area this April. This course is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to deepen their understanding of Boccia and support the growth of high‑quality, well‑officiated programs and events across the province.
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for individuals who have some experience with Boccia and are interested in taking on an officiating role. Whether you’re looking to expand your involvement or contribute to the sport in a new way, this training provides the knowledge and skills needed to support competitions at the provincial level.
Course Details
- Dates: April 11 & 12, 2026
- Time: 9:00am to 4:30pm
- Location: Activity Centre, main floor of Northwood, 2615 Northwood Terrace, Halifax

- Refreshments: Cold drinks and snacks will be provided. Please note that lunch is not included. There is an onsite cafeteria.

Boccia Nova Scotia is coordinating with Community Health Teams to offer:
Free Time and You: Try Something New
Recreation and leisure play a significant role in health and wellbeing.
The first half of this program we will discuss leisure benefits, how to
find accessible and meaningful activities and how to plan for leisure.
The second half of this program will be an opportunity to experience
Boccia. Boccia is a precision ball sport designed for all ages
and all abilities. Players throw, kick, or use a ramp to position their
balls as close as possible to a target ball. It’s strategic, social, and fully
inclusive — anyone can play and enjoy it.

Looking for something fun, fresh, and totally welcoming? We’ll be part of the Intro to Para Sport Event at the YMCA of Pictou County (2756 Westville Road, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia), and it’s the perfect chance to jump in and give Boccia a go!
